Courtney & Michael…I don’t even know where to start. Courtney’s father built a barn on his property specifically for her wedding. I can’t even tell you how much that gets ME right in the feels. Can you imagine how that made Courtney’s heart just explode?

Rustic NJ Barn Wedding | Courtney + Michael

1. How and where did you meet? 

We met when I was 13 and he was 18. He joined the fire company that my dad and brother volunteered at and was friends with my brother. We saw each other at firehouse parties and gatherings, but never really said anything more than hi. 

2. How has your relationship grown over the years?

We started off as just me being the sibling to his one of his friends. As I got older I began hanging out in that same friend group and Mike and I became friends too. We then played a joke on my brother and became even closer through that. Eventually, we shared our mutual feelings of liking the other and began to date. Throughout our dating relationship, our feelings continued to grow deeper and we both knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. 

3. What’s kept you together?

We love each other deeply and are committed to each other and making it work every single day. We are a good balance for each other which makes us work great together.

4.What are some fun things you do together as a couple and with friends? 

As a couple we really just enjoy binge-watching shows and going out to eat- we enjoy the 3 C’s...Cheesecake Factory, Chinese, and Chick-Fil-A! We also enjoy going out with friends and staying in with them having game nights.

5. Where did you honeymoon? 

We went to Aruba. We had never been before but it was absolutely beautiful and we had a blast!

6. Family plans? Kids? Pets?

Eventually, we want to have kids (preferably 2 but we’ll see what happens ;)) and we definitely will also be getting some dogs at some point in the near future :)

7. What’s new since being married? What’s solidified/bonded/grown in your relationship since?  

Since being married, we have just continued to grow together and love each other deeply. For me (Courtney) I just absolutely love seeing him with a ring on his finger!!

9. What were your favorite memories of your wedding day?

I just loved all the love that was there. Our family and friends have great relationships and really care about us so it was really touching and beautiful to continuously feel the love that night. And of course one of my favorite memories was standing there at the altar and being pronounced husband and wife realizing that I was marrying the man of my dreams. 

10. What advice would you give new brides about planning their wedding day? Anything and everything counts. How to find the right vendors, how to manage headcount, how to stay sane and not get overwhelmed in the planning, etc.? 

Planning gets overwhelming and stressful but trust me when I tell you that it is all worth it. No matter how much stress or worry you put into the day when the day comes you’re not even thinking about any of those small things. All you’re thinking about it getting to marry your best friend/your person/ the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. The day flies by so soak it all up and enjoy every moment because it truly is the most magical and best day of your life, but it goes by in the blink of an eye. 

11. How did you find out about me? What was it about me and my services that told you I was the one?

I found you through New Jersey Bride on Facebook. We looked at many photographers and compared photos and exactly what we were looking for and we just fell in love with yours and knew that we wanted you to be the one to capture our day and our love!
