Park Savoy Wedding - A RECENT NJ Wedding
When I first met Meaghen & Steve, I just knew there was something special about these two amazing humans. They actually took me out to dinner at one of my favorite spots before we even had their engagement session at Skylands Manor (THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE YUMMINESS!).
I love bonding with my couples from the moment our journey starts. As we got to spend time together, it was clear…this was meant to be, and I’m beyond thankful to have been able to tell the Love Story of Meaghen & Steven.
Hang out with us while we bask in the glory of the love!
How did you meet?
We met on Tinder!
How has your relationship grown over the years?
Our relationship has grown in so many different ways over the years. Our relationship was never the traditional relationship, especially with meeting on Tinder. After Steve got an opportunity to chase his dream in Arizona with the Diamondbacks, we transitioned to long distance for a year. After the almost year residency in Arizona, shortly after Steve completed it, we moved in together and then promptly got to be together full time with COVID. After our engagement, we experienced great loss with Meg’s biological father passing away unexpectedly (2021). It caused us to pause our wedding but forced us to focus on each other. From here, we grew to our wedding day and here we are, almost a month later married with three furbabies.
How did you get engaged?
Steve - Meg had gotten into grad school and I wanted to make it the best week of her life so i politely stole her date idea and we got engaged in a sunflower patch!
What are some fun things you do together as a couple and with friends?
Now that we’re married, we both are going to do a lot more travel! We both have a love for music and going to different wineries and breweries.
Planning your NJ wedding?
What’s new since being married? What’s solidified/bonded/grown in your relationship since?
We planned our honeymoon and have enjoyed our time with the dogs and cat. We have been able to spend more time being private with our love and appreciating each others company
Details of your day (theme, colors, favors)?
The theme of our wedding was A Tale As Old As Time/ Beauty and the Beast. Our colors were burgundy and navy with a gold accent. Our favors were authentic evil eyes from Greece as a nod to Meg’s heritage.
Why did you choose your venue?
Something that stuck out to us immediately was how beautiful the venue was. We both loved the florals of the venue and envisioned our day there from the moment we walked in. Something that was important to us was stunning photos and great food. The Park Savoy did both.
What was your menu, what was your cake flavor?
The Park Savoy offered us so much food between the cocktail hour and dinner. We had all around great food from start to finish. We made sure to include a variety of options throughout the night for those who have different dietary restrictions and avoided all allergies. Our cake was from Calandra’s. The bottom layer was a chocolate cake with Italian vanilla custard, the middle layer was vanilla cake with lemon custard and the top layer was a chocolate cake with raspberry mousse that is currently in our freezer and will be eaten on our first year anniversary!
Description of your gown? Why was this “the one”?
My gown was a flowy ballgown that had a long train, beaded bodice, lace sleeves and rose floral details throughout the dress. I also had a 13.5 ft cathedral veil that my dad had custom made for me back in his home country of Egypt. This dress was the one because the roses that are embedded throughout the gown is a nod to my middle name after my grandmother. But also, it spoke to our theme of A tale as old as time/ Beauty and the Beast. I wanted my dress to have a princess vibe without being too poofy but give off an elegant modern vibe.
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
Steve - my favorite moments were sharing my vows and our first dance. With my vows, I told her everything and more about how I felt and how lucky I am to have her as my wife. For the first dance, I just appreciated the moment and got to spend that moment with my special person, the one nobody could take away from me.
Meaghen- There were so many moments where I couldn’t help but to smile and soak it all in as much as possible. But sharing our private vows and having a first dance on the clouds stands out as my top two favorite moments of the entire day. Those two moments I only saw Steve and nobody else around. It was special and surreal to share all my vows to just him and be in those moments with my best friend and partner.
Are you ready for a picture-perfect wedding?
One detail you couldn’t live without?
Meg- One detail I couldn’t live without was actually our ring bearer book that was the perfect touch of our theme. It said “A tale as old as time” on the front cover, and inside the first page was a mini fairytale story and the second page that had the cut out compartment for the rings had the tale of the marriage ring inside. Since I am a hopeless romantic and love all fairytales, this was something that was a must have at the wedding, even if it only appeared for a brief moment.
Steve- the detail I couldn’t live without was the dark suit colors. I loved how they complimented the bridesmaids and the flowers we chose.
Did anything go wrong?
The hotel transportation left one of our best men and Steve’s brother at the venue, after we had gotten on the shuttle and asked the driver to hang on a minute for the people who were left behind were just grabbing their things.
First dance song?
Perfect - Ed Sheeran
Where did you honeymoon?
We will be going to Paris & Zurich from December 17 - Dec 27
How did you find out about me? What was it about me and my services that told you I was the one?
Meaghen found Daniel through the NJ weddings Facebook group as a suggestion from another bride! We both knew when you opened up and told us your story. You told us how closely affiliated you’re story was to ours. You had that personable connection that just immediately felt right.
Advice for other brides? Grooms?
Don’t be afraid to open your heart to Daniel. He’s an unbelievably great person and will always do whatever he can to make your day the best day of your life while telling your story the way you want it told.
